The Outcome
We successfully launched the app on Apple Store at the end of 2024, and there were already a growing number of downloads just after the first month of its release. The app is due to be added to Google Store by the end of Spring 2025.
The app also received a lot of positive user feedback, with players praising the fun and educational experience that the app offered.
Through this, we helped Future Museum improve the brand awareness of regional museums, providing everyone with easy access of the Scottish history in a new, digital format!
The Brief
As the world goes digital, the past must evolve with it - and that’s the goal of the Future Museum.
Future Museum is the product of the collaboration of different councils across Southwest Scotland. Their mission is to attract visitors to local museums throughout the area, highlighting and preserving local history for generations to come and make the region’s museum and gallery collections accessible online, allowing individuals to delve into the fascinating history and heritage of the area anytime, anywhere.
This project is funded by the Regional Development Challenge fund and independent museums of Southwest Scotland.
However, digitising history comes with many challenges, such as:
- Can it keep its historical authenticity even in the digital format?
- Will the game be visually appealing and engaging to children and families?
- Is it possible to develop a mobile app on a tight budget and timeline?
- Is it guaranteed that the game will work efficiently on iPhone, Android, & iPad?
The key challenge for this project is to transform the limited-edition Dean Castle Top Trumps card game into a fully interactive mobile app. This way, the museum collections are more accessible and engaging for younger generations.
This is why they decided to reach out to Inspire to answer these concerns they have.
