The Outcome

Invest in Perth is the investment brand of Perth & Kinross Council. They promote the area as a great place to live, work, and do business. Their goal is to attract new investment, support local growth, and show why Perth is a strong choice for development.

We built a great, new website for them that simplified the presentation of all their key information, and made it much easier to navigate.

The automatic migration of hundreds of historic news articles from the old to the new site was carried out, to save them weeks of manual effort.

We have a proactive ongoing relationship with Perth & Kinross Council, and this is only one of many websites that we’ve built, and continue to support for them.

The Brief

We already hosted and supported their existing website for 8 years or so, but they now wanted a Rebuild so the site would better reflect where they are now as an organisation.

They felt the current site had too many pages and too much information on topics not directly related to their mandate. They really wanted to pare it back and just show the key information in an easily digestible way that wasn’t too cluttered but still looked great.

On the project, we also worked with Red String, a local creative agency that handled the writing, images, and design for the project. Our job at Inspire was to build the site, working closely with both Red String and the client to bring the designs to life and make sure everything worked smoothly.

Key requirements

Deliver a new website that effectively showcases what the team does.
Simplify site structure and improve navigation for easier access to key content.
Collaborate with Red String on content and design implementation.
Build a flexible CMS that allows the client to manage updates easily.

What we did

We delivered a website that met the client’s needs, and they were very happy with the final product. They find it easy to make changes on the site from their side which is a big improvement on the previous one.

The main actions we took

Pages with well-presented content covering Investment Opportunities, Business Support, Area Strengths, Strategy, Growth Opportunities and more.
A News & Views section for the latest news, with all articles from the previous website migrated across.
A clean and simple layout to the client’s requirements.
Lots of reusable content blocks that can be used on any page on the site, making it easy for the client to create their own pages in future without any additional costs.
301 page redirects from all the old pages that were no longer retained on the new site.
Use of Structured Data (also known as “Schema”) to tag relevant content items on the site and make them more findable by search engines.
